I am in Mammoth right now in between the 2 Half Pipe Olympic Qualifiers being held here by the United States Snowboard Association. It has been incredible. The snowboarding tricks that have been thrown down during the past week are truely incredible.
Frontside 1080 double corks, cab 1080 double corks, switch double Back flips, and the list goes on. My whole life I have loving doing and watching snowboarding tricks and the new surge in level of the tricks has really been exciting.
Check out Danny Davis and his winning run from the first event. Half Pipe event #2 starts tomorrow.

For all my life, snowboarding has been everything to me. I strive to get better and better and someday hopefully go pro. But for me It's not about being
Feb 15, 2010, Valentines Day marks the Middle of the Season
I have just returned back to Steamoat after another stretch on the road, this time to the Copper Rev Tour and the Aspen Open. SO good to see old shred buddy friends, coaches and all the riders and event organizers out there getting it done. Every where there is a feeling of pride because the sport has progressed in incredible ways in the past 2 seasons. With the recent approach to the Vancouver Olympics, more and more events in 22 foots pipe, and more and more riders rising into the real of 10s, 12s, doubles and huge stylish amplitude, The entire field of riders and coaches seem to feel lucky to observe and participate.
I love it.

Jan 4, 2010, Kevin Pearces head injury and its effect on riders and the sport of snowboarding
Recently, one of snowboardings best half pipe riders, Kevin Pearce, took a catastrophic fall while training for Olympic Qualification.
His crash sent shock waves through the field of riders and fans that have watched him rise to stardom in the world of snowboarding. Over the past couple seasons the level of riders like Kevin Pearce has been rising at an amazing rate with the introduction of 22 foot half pipes and double flips that the best riders are sticking on a regular basis.
Among the field of riders and the support groups involved, Kevins Crash is a sad and untimely reminder of the dangers of the sport. It calls attention to the fact that every rider out there pushing hard for a bigger trick or a better result, runs the risk of serious bodily injury.
It is often difficult for coaches, the riders parents, friends and support groups to encourage a rider to do things we all know are very dangerous.
How do we as parents, coaches and fans of these sports support the athletes with out pushing them into danger?
Well, I don't know. It is scary sometimes. But, we can't express that to the athlete, because as soon as they become scared, they are in more danger. As fear creeps in, so does hesitation and breaks in the precise timing required for these kinds of activities.
So, we give them a hug, say be smart, good luck and have fun. Then we cross our fingers and hope for the best.
Kevin knows what he does is "crazy", and he loves doing it. He would not want us to back down and stop the progression because we're afraid of the possibility of injury.
The riders love snowboarding and will not stop. The sport is a driving force in their lives and they will continue to push themselves towards amazing mastery of athletic skill and bravery.
Kevins fall may slow some and even scare a few away from the amplitude and double flipping antics of the best of the best. But, riders like Shaun White, Louie Vito, Kazu Kokubo, and many other will continue to ride at higher and higher levels.
Lifes too short to hold back from passion due to fear. I support these riders in their efforts and hope that we can all just stop for a moment, appreciate the love Kevin has shown in his character and in his riding for the life he has been given, and go back out and land a sick run or make a pow turn for Kevin. He would like that.
